Well done for going to payplan, they are excellent, will help you loads. Also, as Civil Servants, we have the civil service benevolent fund to help civil servants and their families at times of hardship, you would be eligible for this, there is also a more specific police related fund, but i can't remember the address for that, your union rep would know. Civil service benevolent fund is at https://www.csbf.org.uk explain the situation, plus you are worried about job etc. They can award cash grants that don't have to be repaid and stuff.

Well done for deciding to ditch the sky (don't forget to use the link I pasted to get it free though!)

I can understand why the cat means so much (can you buy supermarket food instead of whiskers? (or does she know like the one on the advert :p )

Just wanted to say - don't regret the last 10 years of your life. You must have had a load of good times during that 10 years, and everything happens for a reason. I bemoan the fact that my dh has a witch of an ex, and loads of debt from a bad business whilst he was with her - but at the end of the day if he hadn't have done all that we would never have met.

You'll get it sorted, just keep your chin up, and keep us updated on how it all goes.

Oh - and if payplan don't call back - do try https://www.cccs.co.uk - they're free after all!
Debts @ lightbulb moment (13/06/2006) - £59,842.23  All commercial debts now clear!!! :T Debts April - £20,000 to family (incl extra £10k borrowed for house deposit). DFD - Aug 2014
Proud to be dealing with my debts
    Goal of the month - £500 on groceries for family of 5 - Apr 2011 - £620! :( May - £454.85 so far.

Lots of good ideas - but here's mine (hope they help)

Check via https://www.uswitch.com to confirm that you're on the best deal for gas & elec.
There's a link in the insurance category (think it's for https://www.insuresupermarket.com) - see if you can get a better quote for house insurance.
Do you need broadband? Might work out better to switch to dialup (1p per minute - use it only after 6pm and weekends).
TV License - mine is around £11 per month - are you on the monthly repayment plan?

I don't think these will save much - but every little helps! :p
