Batteries, batteries & more batteries!

Options
There was a really useful thread on here last year, or the one before, where people posted the best deals on batteries (all sizes!) as us parents will know we'll need heaps of them in a week!

Anyone got any good deals recently?

I've used battery-force.co.uk in the past when looking for cheaper high-powered rechargeable batteries for my digital camera.

Although Battery Force appear to do regular as well as rechargeable batteries, have a look at 7dayshop if it's just rechargables ones your after.

I ordered some rechargeable batteries and a charger from 7dayshop not so long ago. The batteries cost £3.99 per pack of 4 AA and 4 AAA, the charger cost only £2.99.

The charger my not be the best on the market but does the job for me as I only need the batteries for my bike lights. It's this one.

This is the brand of batteries I got as well.

My friend told me that Uxsight.com recently offers deals. Enter Coupon Code P3HB4AV7RF during checkout to get $3 off every order. They have kinds of batteries. The coupon expires on 12/24/2009.

Argos do what we've found to be the best consistent price on good quality batteries - they're Energizer - 24 AA for £6.99 (980/0452) or 16 AAA for £5.99 (980/0445), they also regularly have the Energizer Ultimate Lithium camera batteries on bogof (2x2pks for £6.79 - 980/3954).

I know there are cheaper batteries out there, but they're a bit of a false economy if they don't last.

Argos have their voucher offer back on this weekend too.

If you do decide to purchase rechargeable batteries then make sure they are at least 2500 mAh Ni-Mh batteries. AAA rechargeable batteries appear to only come in 1000 mAh.

The charger I posted works on a timer and takes 10 hours to charge by the way. If you do need to purchase as charger I’d recommend a Delta V circuit charger as it knows exactly when your batteries are charged. Something like this one for example.

I’m sure there are plenty of MSE forum users who can advise you on rechargeable batteries better than I can.

The Fameart batteries I purchased from 7dayshop appear to be doing a good job in my bike lights by the way. They appear to be lasting out OK.
  • Just discovered this advice on chargers and rechargeable batteries:

If you overcharge rechargeable batteries without a smart charger (which shuts off once battery is fully recharged automatically) then you are going to reduce your battery life tremendously.

Slow charging with temperature monitoring and auto-cut-off is the only way to achieve 500+ recharge cycles from a battery..........

It's probably better to spend a little more and getting an intelligent charger that can charge and assess each battery separately. This will make batteries last longer, effectively saving you even more money and enabling you to get the most out of each charge.
