I have brought home to wash the tea towels from work as they are very grim and in the two weeks I have been there I don't think they have been washed not sure if they have ever
I have already soaked them and have read about using borax but I am not going to buy that just for this.
I was thinking of putting the washing machine on a 90 degree wash and see what happens.

Oxyclean powder in some water as a pre soak usually works for me.I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0

They are still grim but at least I know they have been washed.
I put them in the machine with my own tea towels that needs washing with a lot of powder as well.
Rather like my own tea towels there are just some stains that will not come out no matter what I do.

Sunlight can help bleach out some stains, so try and line-dry them!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

Ah yes office tea towels...everybody uses them yet they are nobody's responsiblity. I've done the same, taken them home and put them in with some of my own things.
I know they've already been done Calley, but perhaps next time bung some soda crystals in with the detergent, or perhaps let them soak in a strong solution for an hour or so before putting them through the machine. They were probably quite greasy as people do insist on drying their hands as well as cups on them (ugh....want to gag!). The stains are probably there forever but at least the towels are clean. If they are v.badly stained and still off-putting perhaps your office manager or whoever might let you have £3 out of petty cash to get some replacements from the market or the pound shop.0 -
You could also try soaking them in a mild solution of bleach before washing again. HTHDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0

at the risk of sounding like a stuck record lol
try a scoop of soda crystals in with the powder and then a squirt of stardrops
ive found this works on many tough stains and in general just gives the items a "boost"
agree with the above of hanging in the sun then to dry0
