I am now the (just one week) proud owner of the Panasonic SD253!!!!
I've sucessfully passed the class for a basic white loaf :j , but I would really like to have a go at making a wholemeal loaf.
The recipe says Vitamin C Powder - where do I get this from?
Please help me move on to more interesting breads!!
Thanks

The easiest option is to use a crushed vitamin c tablet. I think you can get vitamin c powder from health food shops like Holland & barrett. To be honest I don't bother adding it very often unless we have some vit. c tablets laying around, the loaf will be a bit denser without it as it causes the yeast to activate to it's best potential, but it isn't the end of the wolrd if you don't use it.

Thanks Lillibet! I was so impressed with my results so far, that I didn't want to get disheartened!!!
Perhaps I'll try a loaf without the vitamin c then.

Hi,
You can buy powder at small independent health food stores, but most of the easy bake yeasts have Vitamin C already if I recall.

I got a tub of 100 vit C tablets for just 99p from my local chemist. It was a lot cheaper than buying vit C powder.0

some of the dried yeast sachets have flour improver in with them which I think might be the same thing.0

It is in my easy bake yeast, but the recipe asked for a little bit more!
I have tried a half and half loaf to ease me in. I think I just need a little more confidence....

In the past I have got Vitamin c powder from Boots - was a long time ago, though0

I use Boots Vit C tablets crushed in my Panasonic wholemeal loaf.
By the way, I make 70% wholemeal 30% white. Seems to give a better loaf.Where now?0 -
A few drops of lemon juice can be used as an alternative, and is a lot easier to get hold of.0

I bought a huge tub from https://www.nutricentre.com to have as a vitamin supplement. You get tesco clubcard points with them too!:happyhear0
