How do I cook steak in gravey?

Options
Hi,
I do not really cook with steak but fancied the idea of cooking steak in gravey how do I do this? Do I brown meat first then put in tray and pour gravey over and place in oven and if so how long do I cook it for or is there another way of doing this?

Thank you

What sort of steak are you using  Will it be "prime" (rump, fillet, etc) or to make casserole (braising, stewing, etc).

I'd cook each in a different way ;)

steak i'll be using is rump
  • OK, lightly fry a sliced onion, some garlic, and possibly some sliced musghrooms until soft. Remove vegetalbes from the pan, and keep warm. Cook the steak until it's done to your liking. Put the steak and veg onto a warm plate, add a glass of wine to the pan, to take up all the delicious cooking juices. Stir that around until it's warm and has made a gravy. You can thicken this if you like :D
