Hi all,
Does anyone know of any shop/supermarket that will have turkeys in tomorrow (Friday 18th Dec) and that I can just buy 'off-the-shelf'?
Am looking for a freerange turkey.
Am in the Downpatrick area, but will be heading up to Belfast to shop (Forestside area).
Was hoping Marks & Spencer would have them in, but as of Tuesday they didn't have any and weren't sure when they were getting them in?!
Was assuming the shops would have them for this weekend but....
Ta.

If you're going to Forestside, try McGee's the butcher (shop is on the outside). Ring them today (9064 8885) and they might be able to sort you out ok. Their products are excellent.0 -
Second McGee's, always excellent quality.
If you are stuck there are at least 5 Butchers along the Cregagh/Woodstock road, just five minutes away from Forestside0 -
I work for Sainsburys (Holywood, not Forestside). Just to let you know the company doesn't start selling whole fresh turkeys until Sunday the 20th.
But as mentioned, McGee's are definitely a good quality butcher!0 -
M&S have turkey crowns in at n'abbey store so I'd imagine all stores would be the same, frozen and fresh. I have only seen the crowns so far.0

Thanks for all the replies. Had pretty much decided to go with beef, though that would have cost a fortunate! But called into McGees to see what they had and they had a couple of turkeys. Not free range but I really couldn't be picky with a last minute buy! It does look nice, and as some of you have said, McGees meat always seems reliable. So I got a turkey. Somewhat larger than needed for my friends so my family gets to eat the leftovers! Guess they will be sick of turkey before Christmas.
(Actually, I'll strip it on Sunday and put the meat in the freezer for me to use over the next while, or even make a batch of curry first...)
Right, time to catch some sleep, before figuring out how long to cook it for!
Ta for all the info.#96 of the Norn Iron Club
