Hiya
I thought I would add up my monthly bills, as I need to start putting away for my 2nd honeymoon, 3 weeks in Florida at Christmas. I also need to make a concerted effort to reduce my credit card.
I owe about £500 on Next Directory
£2700 on Virgin CC, I have applied for a Mint card but they have only given me a limit of £1250 so I cant tb all of this.
My overdraft is £100
I bring home £948.44
My outgoings are:
£150 to husband (of 3 weeks) for household bills I.e rates, gas, leccy, sky, water. Dont pay towards mortgage.
£21 Pet Insurance, thats for 2 dogs
£60.76 Pension
£35.00 phone. I have just changed tariff and I need a phone for work, they pay £30 towards bill. (I work for my dad)
£17.11 Life Insurance
I have just been bought a company van so i dont pay any diesal, insurance, tax, repairs.
I have just married and we both have spent a small fortune and my parents have, on doing up our house in the last 2 years.
Where does £700 go !!!!!!!
We split food, we is normally about £50 a week for 2 of us.
I think i am going to have to write down everything i spend.

Welcome!!!!
Can I ask, without being to rude, why are you planning a second honeymoon when youve only been wed for 3 weeks?
I think a spending diary is a great idea, helps you to see where the pennies are going
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
We had a week in Gran Canaria which was paid for by our wedding guests, we did this instead of a wedding list. My Dad offered us £500 each towards a Disney Trip for a honeymoon, they have their own property. This covers our flight and a 5 day pass. So I now have to pay back Mum and Dad £315 for car hire, Discovery Cove, petrol, Universal Studio/Adventure Island.
My Mum has been wanting to take us since they bought the house over their so we couldnt turn down the opportunity. I now haveto save for spends and food.Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car

Oh just for spends and food, not the whole thing? It should be no problem really, as I remember it florida is unbleievalbly cheap when you get there.
Ask in the travel tips forum on tickets and that sort of thing.
Looking at this

YOU SPEND 253.87 a month.
So theres 500 going somewhere... the spending diary will tell you the answer

I give myself a fixed monthly amount to cover all of my expenses (food and bills etc) the rest (to the penny) is then put right into a saving account linked to my cahoot account. That way it isn't there in my current account to spend, and if I am not on budget each month.. we go without. I personally find it way too tempting to have cash sitting in my current account.
Of course in recent months it all fell apart because I couldn't make ends meet so there was no spare cash. But when I was at a stage where I could pay extra off my cards I found it really helpful to do it this way. I didn't like paying it right off my card because if an unforseen emergency bill came in (like when our heating packed in on christmas eve) I have instant access to it without having to use a credit card. I found I was (in my old life) frankly not to be trusted with one in my purse. But end of the month, it all went off the card and the next sum went in savings.:A

Thanks!
yeah, we dont drink alcohol either so apart from clothes/trainers/soft toys/cd's spends should be kept to a minimum!
Mum also has paid for us to have a 4 day cruise to Mexico while we are there.
I cant believe where my money goes, £30 here and there out of the cashpoint.
Now will be the start of seeing the effect of having no car expenses, however I do have an outstanding bill of £200 on old car( the garage gave my dad £150 for whole car in px!!!!) and £75 to find for having my wedding dress cleaned.
I'm quite looking forward to doing a spending diary.Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car

why do you have to have your wedding dress cleaned

One of the interesting things to do, I found when I started off here, was to sit down on my own and think about what is want and what is need. ONce I did this, it became infinatley clearer of how to get out of debt & how to manage my money . I always ask myself this all the time now "do i want or need this" yes, Im the one putting half my shopping back like a weirdo in tescos!! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? I'll back her up here - she really does need to, otherwise it'll get ruined very quickly; just think of all those bacteria living in the sweat! Mind you, £75 seems a lot; I had mine done at Johnsons for £35.0 -
maybe thats something i need to write into my ever increasing wedding budget

Hiya. Without meaning to sound rude, how old are you?
The reason I'm asking is in relation to your pension payment.0
