Pregnant + Workload = Stress

Hi everyone,

Just need some advice really. I am at my wits end at the moment. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and my workload is just getting more and more unbearable. I have been doing 2 peoples work for the last year now due to redundancies etc. It has always been hard but now I am pregnant I just cant keep going at the same pace.

Work dont seem to understand the fact that I am pregnant and that I cant work as madly as I have done in the past. I had a meeting with HR yesterday to discuss Health and Safety and I did tell HR that I was concerned about my workload as I was finding it increasingly difficult and I was getting very stressed over it.

Now the bosses of my company have a theory and that is to work people until they break. I have heard this from my bosses mouth and I have to admit that I was stunned when he told me this.

I dont know what to do anymore I am worried for my health and my babies health but I just dont know how to resolve the situation and get more support etc. I look poorly at the moment and seem to have lost my zest. I am constantly exhausted to the point where I come home from work and just want to drop into bed. I just cant carry on like this. I want to enjoy my pregnancy.

Help!!!!!!!!

xx

This happened a few years ago to someone I know.

She went and got a doctor's note which basically informed her employers that her pregnancy would be at risk from the hours they were making her work and the lack of breaks in those hours. Therefore they had to agree to allow her a full hour lunch break and only work the official hours. In return she agreed not to have a bonus for the period she was working those hours as her other colleagues had to take on her work load.

She was expected to work from 9am to however long the work took without a lunch break including many Saturdays.

So bring it up with HR that your work load is making you ill and if they don't seem to be doing anything go and have a word with your doctor about your working hours.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p
