On efficiency you also have to think about time taken per order. 10 £100 orders will normally take far less time than 100 £10 orders. I know it's a bit of an extreme example. But the utilisation of manpower and vehicles etc will be less efficient as far as a means of distribution. The most efficient system should not only generates more money for the company, but also should lower the enviromental impact.
Also the minimum spend does promote careful planned shopping. As other people have said sometimes it's used as a monthly bulk shop, or special occasion/holiday bulk shop. I do find that inputting my order a few days in advance gives me time to modify it as I remember items or realise something isn't needed yet. I also use the site fixture ferrets
http://www.fixtureferrets.co.uk/index.asp
to ensure I don't miss multi-buys etc. The min spend at Tesco's is before taking account of BOGOF's so you don't actually always need to spend the 'minimum' for the voucher to be utilised.
Sorry only know about Tesco's!!0 -

My dad does the shopping deliveries for sainsburys.. and you do get vouchers if a regular customer. Also some slots are free to delivery where as busy times like Friday and Saturday will cost the £5 unless you spend over £75 or something.
The other interesting thing - is the pricing for deliveries within sainsburys is different across the country as it costs me to do a "quiet" delivery midweek.
Waiting for a free voucher to try out the delivery as I still end up going anyway to get my fresh food.. as they do substitute items if they don't have something in stock. :rolleyes:Give somebody a hug it costs nothing

Another thing which would be good is if we could give drivers our empty glass bottles to recycle rather than the van going back to depot empty.
I always have a gripe about driving to nearest bottle bank and am dubious of cost effectiveness of doing this. At least handing to a driver would be cost effective as s(he)'s got to go back to shop anyway.0 -

I registered for Sainsbury's online but didn't use them. About 2 months later I got an email with a £10 voucher (£25 min spend) to encourage me to try my first shop! :T So they probably only send them to people that haven't shopped with them for a while. Loyal customers that use them every week don't get anything :rolleyes:Proud to be a MoneySaver!
