Welcome finance PPI

HI there im really confused and hope someone can help.
I have a £2000 loan withwelcome which is now a balance of £3400 somehow after about 2 years of paying on time! anyway, I called them to say i wanted to cancel my PPI on my account and have it refunded as i have a recorded old call from welcome saying that if i took it it would increase my chances of getting the loan. the branch manager came on shouting saying i couldnt use the recording as i didnt declare i was recording, and i couldnt get a refund as welcome dont do PPI anymore...
Im not paying it now, but previously I have for years!
how do i claim this back?

Hi Kizzy

Firstly never talk to these idiots on the phone put everything in writing.

You will have to start of by making a full complaint to Welcome regarding the mis-selling of the PPI. If you look in the Reclaim section in this website there is brilliant advice and templates available to help you start off.

Once you have started this you will more than likely receive replies back basically fobbing you off. You need to issue them with a letter before action threatening them with court action or thr FOS and wait for their final response. Once you have this you will then be free to take your complaint to the FOS or start court action.

Finally have a look at your agreement has the PPI and acceptance fee been added into your total charge for credit? They must do this under the Consumer Credit Act and if they havent it may be un-enforceable.
