Anyone been to any of the Pantos yet this year?
If so what did you think. I can't find any reviews around.

  • Nope, but I'm in my local one this year. I say this year, but it's on in January!! I saw a professional one when I was little which was lovely and had more of a magical feel to it; but I have to say I'm more a fan of smaller local ones because they're a bit more personal, and chances are you know someone up there. Plus it's easier to break away and ad lib if you forget your lines - not that I've done that because a) I'm a line learning square and b) I usually end up playing the straight characters who aren't meant to be funny. But I do love panto. Oh yes I do!!! :D

  • I am going to see Robin Hood in Cardiff at the New Theatre soon, can't wait! and yes JB's playing Robin Hood. The reviews have been great and it was great with JB in last year in Birmingham too!

Have already booked Aladdin in Glasgow with JB in it for next xmas. Do you notice a trend here lol? (If you don't know JB check out my avatar lol)

    Cheers

  • aladin at the grand opera house was great - the 3d for the genie worked brilliantly. the kids kept ducking behind the seats to avoid the 3d objects coming out of the screen - hilarious to watch - the panto wasn't too bad either! may mcfetridge did a good job without going over the top

Going to see Aladin at the opera house tonight.

Just wondering how long it lasts for and what the merchanidse is like?
  • Friends went to Cinderella in waterfront and couldn't praise it highly enough. Last year the Opera house one was a bit scarey for her 3 yr old and found this one much more child friendly, cosy and very talented cast of only 10. Almost was tempted to go but very heavily booked before christmas..
  • Aladdin at the Opera House was fantastic. TBH I wasn't all that keen on going but I loved every minute. The 3D worked a treat and all the kids were screaming everytime the objects came flying.
The cast did a great job with May Twanky stealling the show. Only critisism would be the slow songs, same ones more than once and a bit too often. A couple of more upbeat numbers to replace them would have been an improvement.

All in all a great night ( I am already thinking of booking next year.)

I went to Cinderella at Waterfront last night.

Have to say it was really excellent enjoyed by children and adults alike.
    .
Cast were really friendly coming out after the show to meet the crowd and were happy to have pictures taken etc.

Have to say I enjoyed more than previous years at Opera house.:T

I've been to both Cinderella at the Watrefront and Aladdin at the Millenium Forum and both were great, would recommend either tbh and much cheaper than the Opera House.
