Aaaaah - the "forced the sale by the courts" rather changes the approach I was going to suggest - although (assuming no kids involved as this wasn't mentioned either) I fail to see how she got that, but I'm not a family lawyer or a lawyer of any sort (although I suspect she was better prepared and more aggressive than you).
