Good morning Kelloggs
I hope you are well today ?
You advised us previously that when the QC turns 16 that our Maintainance required would drop. Can you please confirm if this is done
automatically or do we have to notify the CSA
Thanks in advance

If he/she is 16 now & still in school, maintenance will be payable until the first Monday in September 2010.
However, if the QC remains in further (non advanced) education, maintenance will be payable up until the September following the end of the course, or up to the age of 19, whichever comes first.
If the QC goes onto advanced education (usually uni) then maintenance liability via the CSA should stop on the first Monday in September that the course starts.
When the QC reaches 19, the liability usually stops automatically. However, some on these forums have experienced problems when the child is under 19 & has given up on education. It appears that occasionally, the onus has been on the NRP to have to prove that education has stopped & that the PWC should not be in receipt of child benefit & therefore, no CSA liability.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. I think the OP might be referring to the allowance for a qualifying child in the calculation of a CS1 case. The amounts change depending on the age of the child and might decrease at 16. I think I remember reading something about it too.
Sorry to "speak for you" OP.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61

Just for anyone else reading this post...the age of the QC is due to increase to 20 under CMEC legislation. Its not introduced just yet, but I would expect it to be in place next year sometime... so now child support can be payable to children that are still in full time further education upto the age of 20.0
