My curtains!

I did a search but couldn't find anything so I'm hoping someone will point me in the right direction.
I would like to add an extra thick lining to some of our curtains but I don't know what to use, what has anyone else used? Is it just extra lining material or something a bit fluffier?
I also need some curtains for our hallway, I can make them myself as my mum taught me! (thanks mum!) but I would like pointers to the best material for lining these in the first instance.
Hoping I can get some tips.
Many thanks

My dining room curtains are lined with "ordinary" lining fabric, but I've been surprised at how much they keep the warmth in - I really notice the difference when I draw them back in the morning.
But I think some people on here have lined theirs with fleece.
nice to see you back by the way - we missed you on the Daily thread! :hello:0 -
When I made my big patio door curtains (for a north facing room) I used an old blanket as an interlining between the thick chenille material and the thermal lining AND for the winter I attach fleeces to the back to make them extra efficient. That works very well I find. If you look on the Preparing for Winter thread you will find lots of ideas and advice.0

:DHello again, yes I'm back. We moved house and I couldn't get on in the morning anymore as I have to leave so early (0610:eek:). But now we have quite good connection at work (don't tell the boss) and I'm well and truly on my DFW pathway!!
We also now have an allotment (well, veg patch in the field next to our house) so will be scmoozing round here and greenfingered a bit more!
I have been pointed in the right direction for my curtains so will try to get that done ASAP.0 -
Dunelm sell the interlining you need for your curtains. If you're making your curtainings from scratch the easiest way to interline curtains is to attach the interlining to the reverse of the face cloth along top and sides (fabric cut to same width). Hem the face cloth to finished length, hem the interlining to finished length less 5cm. Attach outer lining as normal, hem should then be 2.5cm shorter than face cloth and 2.5cm longer than interlining.
Did I say this was the easiest way? I've just read this back and it sounds complicated - really it isn't!0 -
I get it pont, thanks. Makes perfect sense!0
