Is this Employers sick pay?

Options
Hi this may seem like a daft question but I have just recieved my 'Statement' re my IB claim.. they ask if I am in receipt of Employers sick pay and on the statement (filled in on the phone) I have said no. but I now think that should be yes... I need it clarified

When I rang my HR to confirm this I was told that as I had applied for Ill Health Retirement I would immediately be put back on full pay (I had just been put on half pay after 6mths sickness) but that my SSP ran out on the 6th June. So does the SSP only make up part of my pay and the rest that they are paying me is Employers sick pay? The girl I spoke to did not know wether this was was ESP or not ....

I feel so stupid but they really have not explained anything to me apart from sending me an SSP1 and telling me I am back onto full pay...

Thanks, as I do not want to be claiming IB if I am not entitled although HR insist that I will get it, I am finding this benefit claiming very stressful and feel as though I am claiming something thats not rightfully mine.. but I guess everyone feels this way when starting down this road.... I am sure its going to be a lot more rocky along the way...

Any wages that the employer pays above the level of SSP is money the employer is paying you as sick pay, on top of the SSP .
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
