Temporary Workplace Tax Relief

Hello all,
I have been relocated for work. I'm in my new location for about 6 months, and will then move to a new location (over 100 miles away) for work again.
My employer is paying all moving costs tax free up to a limit of £750, which will cover it comfortably.
I've been told that because I'm only here for 6 months, it can be classed as a temporary workplace and therefore I can claim tax relief on my daily commute. Anyone know if this is true?
As my employer will only pay £750 of allowance, once this runs out with mileage claims (at 40p per mile), can I claim any tax relief from HMRC?
Thanks in advance!

Yes if you are there for 6 months you can claim tax relief on 40p a mile for you visits as it's a temporary workplace.
You get about 8k for relocation costs tax free (this must be based on actual expenditure). I assume this is for your later move, I suggest you use this with removal costs, replacement furniture and fittings etc.
Then you can claim tax relief on all your visits to the temporary location on 40p a mile.0 -
Thanks very much.
How do I go about claiming this?
I do quite a lot of miles for work in my car (which I get 40p a mile for), if I claim this will this afffect my 10,000 limit at 40p, and if so will I be worse off?
I have no experiance with this at all!

Fill out a P87 after the end of the tax year. You get 10,000 miles at 40p then the rest is at 25p. As long as you get nothing for some of the miles you will still get some tax relief.0
