  • Hmm interesting. I've been very pleased with the service I have received from GAME. I ordered the new Indiana Jones game online for my 2 sons on PSP and DS at the special offer price of £12.99. I received a confirmation email straight after placing the order and received the games within 3 days. I couldnt have been any more satisfied with them.

I for one will never shop in Game again after the complete mess they made of my World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King pre-order.

I pre-ordered this with them on the day that pre-orders for the Collectors Edition started, I knew they would only recieve a limited stock and may be unable to fufill all the orders.

So I telephoned the store the night before the game was released, and spoke to a young gentleman, took his name, asked him to check whether my order for the CE would be honored as I appreciated they received very few of this edition, he took my name and went and checked the list and came back and said yes we have your collectors edition waiting for you but we will release them at 11am if noone collects, fair enough says I.

I get there at 8.30, geek out with some of the other gamers that have also come early, I'm third in the que, give them my name, 'oh I'm sorry we only received two CEs and those two guys have bought them' (yeh 1 + 2 in the que).

I was BEYOND fuming. They will never see a penny of my money again.
  • When dealing with any companies, the people have the power to be incompetant. I've just had major hassles with Next, the only time in years though. Unfortunately for them, one disaster can wreck years of good service.

For the record, just used Game online for the first time at the weekend and was very impressed. Ordered DJ Hero on Saturday with £5 off and free delivery, and recieved it Monday.

Yes, too right. Force your own ideals on him and get him something you consider "good for him". Sod whether he likes the thing, wants it, will use or enjoy it...
  • I had the same problem with monopoly city icalled this no 01256 784000,they gave me the game the next day at the price advertised & a £10 gift card for my trouble!

Possibly it was just a mistake. Seems a bit weird a member of staff would ring you to sort it out, be helpful and then you get no game weeks later. Seems probable someone simply didn't do their job properly and the game never got sent. In a perfect world the member of staff you spoke to would have followed it up but it's rare to get that kind of service nowadays!

Since you have already got the game elsewhere (I would have done the same) I would write a letter of complaint to GAME telling them you were displeased with their service. They might do the decent thing of sending you an apology and maybe give you some vouchers to get you back. If they don't, I'd make a point of voting with your feet and shopping elsewhere.

Whereabouts in the country are you? We were in Newcastle when we were getting our pre-orders, went to Gamestation and they had tons of CEs (we went for the midnight launch). Also saw loads just being sold freely in the shops for about a week afterwards, Virgin Megastores had tons on the shop floor for ages too. I can see why you were fuming though, I would be too if they messed up my pre-order, just think it's odd that they only got 2 copies in. Hope you got one in the end though!
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

Hi I'm in Chelmsford in Essex, at the time there were three branches of Game (the original one, a consession in Debenhams and another one taking over a short term lease that has since gone), I checked all three, and one I preordered from was the only one to have received any. HMV and Woolworths didn't even have it on their system as a stocked product and then thats about it for town centre stores selling that kind of thing. Phoned PC World (retail park nearby) on the offchance but they didn't get them either.

We don't have anything like Gamestation or Virgin. I got my TBC from a Gamestation in Cambridge as I was at uni back then and was very pleased with their service but their system wouldnt let me preorder CE to post or else I would have got it from their branch.

I did get my hands on one (via Ebay) for about £50 which was fine since it saved me the inconvenience of spending £15 / half a day getting to London but yeh I was extremely annoyed, I collect companion pets (I'm up to 125) so getting the pet was something I REALLY wanted and its sad but it really spoiled the first few days of playing for me cos I was 'worried' about getting one/ had been looking forward to it.

As for midnight releases - Blizz really stuffed up midnight releases for us here - they had listed on their own site that Tescos would be putting them up on the shelf at midnight, dragged my dad down there with me for some smirking young lad to throughly enjoy telling me and some others that they wouldnt be shelving them till 9am.
  • Unfortunately we're at the mercy of these useless companies. The only thing you can do is write and complain, it probably won't do any good, but lets you vent your anger at them. I've been messed about by loads of them in my time and now come to expect the worse from most of them.

By the way, I don't know what's wrong with some people on these forums, making useless sarcastic comments, why do they bother reading your post if they think it's of no importance?
