Hi there,

I graduated from Uni in June and couldn't secure a job. It got be into a lot of debt on top of debt and missed bills each month in my final year as i couldn't keep up.

However, i have just secured my dream job and i'm due to start on the 4th Jan in Manchester. The problem is that i'm currently based in Cardiff and have no funds available to me from any source to relocate to Manchester this month.

I planned on getting a Graduate loan today, but the RBS turned me down because of my credit history. The one time i actually need my bank to help me out and they can't. I see why without a doubt, but now after being out of work for well over a year and struggling through the past 2 years of uni, i finally have a proper job & salary (14K) where i can actually afford to pay bills and keep on top this time.

So what now? 3 weeks i start and i have no clue what to do.

Any advice is very much appreciated!

A loan is a bad idea - 14k isnt going to pay for much itself. No family that could help??

  • 14K is a lot right now having been on JSA of £85 each fortnight since July :/

Sadly, my family isn't that well off to lend me a few K to secure a place - deposit, rent, council tax etc and general living costs till i get paid which isn't till the end of Feb.
  • cant you ask your new employer see if they can offer any help, also talk to the JC+they may offer some(limited help),local authorities can also be a scource of help for deposits on property
