Think positive really, think positive.
An optimist says the glass is half full
A pessimist says the glass is half empty
An engineer says the glass is twice the size it needs to be0 -

Bugg er I've been rumbled! Yes - just bought my 5th property, this one's my home having STR'd four years ago, so I've always had a fair amount invested in Property - I bought my first BTL in 1996. The House I've just bought is at 2004 prices, the current owners having bought it in 2006, so I'm paying a lot less than they did. Add to that they've updated the whole house in the last three years. New kitchen, bath and shower room. Fully redecorated and carpeted, they'd just finihed it when the Vendor's husband died. All very sad for her, but it 's done me a great favour.
Loads of people have knocked STRing, but done properly it really can work. I've lived 'free' for the past four years. Half the Interest on my STR fund paid for rent, the balance paid for all my living expenses. There was a little 'bonus' at the end, which I won't go into, 'cause no one will belive me. Now Interest rates are bugg er all, I felt I've moved at the right time!
Do I think prices will drop next year? Probably, but I've done what's right for ME. I really can't see much of an upswing, except (maybe) London and the Soth East, but hell, who knows? I thought prices would drop 15 - 20% this year and they haven't. Most of the experts got it wrong, so they've probably got it wrong for next year, we'll just have to wait and see!
Good luck to all (both Bull and Bear) and a very Happy Christmas to all!0 -
