Northern Rock Together Mortgage Payment Breaks?

Hi Guys

I have a Northen Rock together mortgage which I have been paying since 2006, I have had previous payment holidays, my last being 8 months ago.

I have had a reduced pay packet this month (due to being off work ill for 2 weeks).

What is the likelyhood that NR let me have a payment holiday a month early (as I am allowed one every 9 months of consecutive payments). I know that payment breaks are frowned upon due to the mass interest piled on but im pretty desperate!.

Anyone had any experience with this at all?

Cheers

mrwoody

You'd need to phone them to find out but I wouldn't pin your hopes on it. You really need to find ways to build up an emergency fund - if you post a Statement of Affairs on the debt free forums someone should be able to help you to see ways to cut back on expenditure/boost your income.
  • It may actually be too late to take a mortgage break for this month.

A few months ago my OH was off work sick for a few weeks so we decided to call up Northern Rock (we're also on a Together mortgage) to request a mortgage break for the end of that month (it was about 2-3 weeks before the payment was actually due out). We were told that it was too late to do it for that month but we could do it for the next month if we wanted. We declined (and i'm glad we couldn't do it now! This was pre 'lightbulb moment'!)
My mortgage costs me a sobering £13.06 A DAY!

That's about 5 pairs of shoes a month i'm missing out on!
