You can get ready prepared Frozen veggies in Iceland / Supermarkets, ones to roast and microwave or boil.
Stuffing mix avail - just add hot water.0 -
Most supermarkets now do ready prepared vegetables. Also pigs in blankets, even ready prepared stuffing and ready to pour gravy.0

Have a chat and agree on the one or two things she is allowned to make from scratch!! she may love doing potatoes or stuffing say and then get frozen everything else, or stuff thats already prepared.
Or offer to be her assitant chef where shes in charge and you do the physical side of it, sounds like a big operation and Im guessing with two weeks to go shes not going be up to standing for long and lifting heavy stuff around.
To answer your question they now do frozen stuffing balls, frozen mash, frozen roastys and other veg. You can even get sprouts ready in bag to steam in mircwave so should be just a case of juggling around in oven so its ready on time.0 -
Most prep can be done sitting down, my mother has bad arthiritis and often sits watching tv peeling the veg lol!
Iceland do lovely pre prepared bits like the pigs in blankets and other fancy treats, I saw in morrisons at the weekend they had stuffing balls too but the normal stuffing is pretty easy.
Hope her op goes well xxDebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

Hi,
thanks for the help and advice,
we wont know how much she is going to be able to do until after the operation as they may have to do a more invasive surgery , she struggles to stand at the mo as i found out yesterday when she offered to make a roast as my birthday meal, i ended up doing most of it so i dread to think what she will be like after the op !
i have had a word with her and she has said its ok for me to get the prepared stuff like pots, and veg and pigs in blankets ect as long as she can cook it
i will be cooking her turkey on xmas eve so its only the veg ect to do on the day
may have to pop to iceland this week ! or asda
thanks again0 -
I reckon you need to be REALLY tactful - but talk your Mum out of this asap!!! She is unlikely to be able to cope with the preparation - never mind the cooking - and could well hurt herself badly if she overbalances or scalds/burns herself! It just isn't realistic to expect to be able to cope with even ordinary cooking, never mind a Chrstmas feast, less than 2 weeks after such an operation. She will still be sore and uncomfortable and will struggle to find a position comfortable enough to maintain. If she really wants to do something, let her prepare some veg - she can do that on her lap.
Try to convince her that its the families turn to wait on her this year - tell her she can do an Easter feast for you all as, by then, she will hopefully be running around like a spring lamb.ELITE 5:2

hi tbw,
i have had a chat with mum and my sister and we have decided that we will have dinner at mums house and between my sister and myself we will cook the dinner, we would of done it at one of our houses but if my mum is bedbound we dont really want to leave her on her own if you know what i mean,
i am moving into her house tomorrow to help look after her and my little brother and i have made her a special bed room in the dining room so she can still be in the same area as everyone else ( its a 3 storey house ) and have had sky tv put in there lol0
