What to make for kids aged 2 - 4???

Hi All

I hope someone can help me.

I am looking at a little homemade present for some children of a friend of mine. She is doing a xmas hamper for them and has already done them snowman soup and reindeer food which is what I would have done. (She was also going to do that for mine but now has got them something else!!!).

If I had the time I would make them sock monkeys but I really dont.

So any ideas on something homemade that I could make. I only have limited baking skills although I do try!!! but would like to give them something more than rice crispie cakes. And their mum is a chef and always baking so dont want to make anything they may get all the time!

Any suggestions would be great!!!

thanks

I know you say you haven't got enough time to make a sock monkey, but how about a small bag each. You could make a drawstring one which doesn't take much time and only requires you to be able to sew in a straight line.

My children are 4 and 6 but have been obsessed with having their own bags since they were about 1 1/2 years old. You could make them extra special by writing their names on them in fabric pens or by printing out a picture of their favourite character onto fabric transfer paper (quite cheap in tesco) and then iron it on. The bags can also be made out of old tshirts, sheets etc so that all you would really have to pay out for is the cord and transfer paper.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide xxx

  • Simple idea if you have a photo of them- just stick onto card and then decorate around edges or get your kids to, laminate then they have their own placemats to use.

Thanks both of you. Sorry not replied earlier, not been on since - hectic hectic hectic.

I like the photo idea but no laminator but I do have a pogo printer thing so if i can take a picture of them on my phone i can get a little picture which i could put on a bag or something. Not sure if I have enough old clothes for bags as recently gave everything away. I could knit a bag for the girl but what about the boys (might just meet up with them next week rather than rush for friday so gives me a few more days to make something!!)

any ideas on what i can do with a small photo for boys? To young for wallets, not sure about a bag for them. and would be nice to do something different!

Thanks again and any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

It's literally just making cookies, cutting out the middle, putting crushed boiled sweets in the hole and baking until the sweets have melted, here's a recipe

I think they look great :D

wow, they look amazing! would they work without ground ginger as that is the only thing i dont have (could i put cinnamon in instead). They would love them. and i could put them in a little bag with a picture of them on instead of their name in a frame that my kids have decorated!!!
