A&L "£100 for Switch"

Hi everyone; did anyone have any problems with the £100 for switching to Alliance & Leicester?

My switch took a little longer as my bank at the time (RBS) did not pass on my direct debit details for weeks!

I wondered why my £100 hadn't gone into my new A&L account and when I enquired, they said my switch had "taken too long", so I did not get my £100. Surely a switch is a switch and I should still get my £100? At the end of the day, my salary is going into their hands every month.

I complained to A&L at the time and they said it was RBS's fault and to take it up with them. RBS are hardly going to give me the £100 though, are they?!

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Hiya, im doing this switch over and have just made sure my monthly salary is sorted as i think this is the major factor in the £100 offer. i think u have to pay IN a certain amount before a certain date. then the dd's get set up after ur salary is sorted. thats what i can understand anyhow.

I think A&L then give u the £100 after a couple of months.

Not sure what u can do in your situation. how long did it take exactly? xxx

It took a couple of months, but I wasn't aware there was a problem to begin with. Everything was all sorted as far as I knew.

A&L didn't let me know that RBS weren't giving up my Direct Debit details; I found out only by going in to the A&L branch to enquire about why the switch hadn't happened yet. I then dealt with RBS and got them to pass on the details to A&L and the switch took place; but as it happened "Too late", they said I couldn't get the £100.

In my view, it was not my fault that RBS didn't pass on the details and not my fault that it took so long; so now I have switched and for nothing.

    Very annoying

    Any advice welcome!!

Keza - I hope your switch goes a lot more smoothly :-)

I would try a moan at A&L again as they should have said they were having problems. ive found them terrible at communication during the switch. ive been getting a bit edgey and ended up asking work if they had received the letter and to tell me when they have. mine should be ok this friday on payday. should qualify me.

Id defo go back to A&L thou as they should have kept you in the loop xx
