Best smoked salmon deal

Who's doing the best deal on smoked salmon this year? We go through loads of it over Xmas.

This isn't a special offer, but the Times reviewed different brands a few weeks ago, and the Ocean Sea brand from Lidl came out on top despite being by far the cheapest of the ones they tried...

The Lidl one is very good but the price is £2.59 for 200g and not £1.59 as stated in The Times - this is still good value compared to the supermarkets though.

Just spotted on their website that Morrisons are doing BOGOF on their smoked salmon 200g for £3.49, haven't tried this one though so don't know what it is like.

Waitrose Organic Orkney smoked salmon is the best I have ever tried. It is expensive at 5.99 for a 4 slice pack.

The only trouble with that times review is the limited range they tried. I have always found the aldi salmon to be good quality as well as lidl.
It strange really the "continentals" seem to do the fish (prawns are yummy) and alot of the cooked meats and especially the chocloates much better than the supermarkets.
We also eat alot of smoked (and unsmoked salmon) at christmas so may go for the morrisons offer. Had theirs before and its usually very nice. To be honest the only one we had in recent years that was tasteless and really tasted "farmed" and bland was tesco's a couple of years ago.
But if you have one defo try the lidl or the aldi-both v yummy.

BTW I find it freezes well just n case you want to get some in "stock" as it were lol. Defrost overnight in the fridge.

Morrisons had some today on BOGOF. As i were not buying it didnt look to see weights and prices.

The salmon is the 200g pack for £3.49, so effectively 400g for £3.49, so sounds ok.
May have to get some bagels and cream cheese to go with it mmmmmmmmm.

I've noticed that the supermarkets don't seem to be doing a whole side of smoked salmon this year. The biggest packet I've found was around 350g. Anyone else seen bigger?

I'm tempted to order a side off one of the Ebay sellers.

the lidl salmon is now reduced to £2, and its quite a big packet, bigger than the off cuts i have bought in sainsburys in the past.

In marks and spencer today they had a side of smoked salmon (i think!) was on offer as well. I didn't pay too much attention as i'm not a fan!
