hello everyone!
right, I had AA cover for about 2 years, I remember signing an agreement for 1 years cover, when the second year started they just sent me a letter saying that the cover would just continue on
my question is this
the AA are now trying to demand full payment of the policy as i cancelled it but i don't want 2 pay them, can i ring them up stating that i've never signed an agreement for the second years cover and that i'll see them in court?
best wishes

no idea, i suspect they cant do this, from what you say.
but might be worth speaking to consumer direct about this. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

i am pretty sure that in their contract they state that they will take the money automatically at the end of the year to prevent a break in your cover.
i am sure that this is allowed (although underhand)0 -
I think sickofhavingnomoney is right - if you read through your Terms and Conditions, I'm sure you'll find that there is an automatic renewal of the contract unless you advise them (usually in writing) within a certain time period. It's perfectly legal and is standard practice on most contracts, so if they have included this in their T&C, you'll have to pay...
Check your original terms and conditions to make sure.0 -
I've just sent them an email saying that I specifically wrote to them requesting that they do not renew my cover and asked them what has happened to the letter and why did they continue to extract money from my bank account
This is a total bluff on my part! do you think it'll work?
Best Wishes

Its probably worth a try but i would not hold out much hope. They may want a copy of the letter.
It is always worth reading all terms and conditions on anything.£2 saver club, over £200 now:

I worked for an insurance company when I was a student and they hear this all the time. All my company did (which wasn't the AA, so they may deal with it differently!) was say that notification was given, along with clear instructions to send back the certificate of insurance if cover for the new term wasn't required. I don't think you'll get any joy mate, but probably worth a try!DFW Nerd #104 I :heartpuls my Kitten

I had this with the RAC ,
It is an agreement if you don't respond and they give you 28 days from renewal to cancel BUT I managed to get mine refunded , originally they nly offered a credit note to sit on their side of the account until you used against a policy in the future. I contacted the credit card company and said that I wanted to do a recall on the money (had paid £98 in one go) they asked why and I said I had phoned RAC to cancel and that they had still charged. While I was on the phone they themselves called the RAC and we had a 3 way discussion , lady at their side agreed immediately to refund the monies.
I had called them by the way but it was outside of the 28 days so they really didn't have to refund the money. Guess I just got lucky - seems they are more responsive to a call from the card company than the individual.
Hope you get it sorted
