Giving bikes for Christmas!

Our eldest 3 are getting bikes this year, we have decided to put them in the downstairs cupboard - they should fit, if not then I will quickly dash them outside.
So we are planning on wrapping a box up with all of their names on and inside putting a message to look in the cupboard or out the window. 'Look in the cupboard' seems a bit boring though!
I don't know whether to do a poem (well try!) or something else? If anyone has any ideas that would be fab.
Thanks

  • Thats a lovely idea. I`m no good at poems so can`t help there i`m afraid.
How about making a mini treasure hunt leading them to the cupboard or garden :) x

  • i am planning on wrapping them up , 2 bikes , wrapped one bike up couple of years back and didnt use as much paper as i thought i would , the main thing is that you will run out of paper with the bike half wrapped , on xmas eve .... so i will make sure i have plenty of paper 'in reserve'

The reason I don't want to wrap them is because they have all asked for bikes so they will know what they are straight away. I just thought it would be nice for them to open all their other presents first and then find the bikes elsewhere.

Lovely idea, when my kids were younger and had bikes for Xmas I used to buy a cheap plastic tablecloth and wrap them up in that, with a big bow always looked lovely x

  • That is a really nice idea, i have also got my little boys bikes and they are 2 and 4 and the eldest reminds me everyday that he has asked father xmas for one so i think he is expecting it, but i am not sure how to give it to them, i don't have enough room to hide it anywhere so was just going to put a huge bow on each and put them in front of the tree for when they come down first thing in the morning, that should distract them for a bit while i get a chance to make a coffee before the crazy present opening begins:rotfl:

I love the idea of a little poem, or maybe a little treasure hunt to find it, sort of little clues dotted about to build the suspense up,leading to the bikes?

  • What about a bike bell/security chain (depends on age I guess) in a gift box as a clue?

I've just thought, I have wrapped some bike lights up for my son's girlfriend so that when she opens them she will be puzzled until my husband wheels her new bike in. But I have also bought her some new halogen headlights for her old mini, when she opens them I hope she won't be looking for a new mini to go with them!
