 Yes I remember this too...last saw it quite a few years ago now in the little chemist in the village....its probably gone the way of surgical spirit, potassium citrate and hydrogen peroxide which were all cheap fixits for a variety of things but chemist can no longer sell them over the counter for 'health and safety' reasons of one sort or other....
I have been told (could be an urban myth though) that hydrogen peroxide and some sort of granular fertiliser can be mixed to make home made explosives which is why its no longer on general sale...although its possible for hairdressers to buy it as they have a legitimate use.
I will be checking for Indian Brandee now just to satisfy my curiosity:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

Indian brandee is still available, but you're probably more likely to find it in an independent chemsit than the big chains. Also your chemist should be able to give you advice on other suitable remedies if not stocked.
If you look at the ingredients though it's mostly just ginger and peppers, so I think you could make something similar with a herbal tea!
As for the other things, potassium citrate etc, there have been some changes in the law recently, but mostly no one stocks this stuff because no one ever buys it and it's really hard to get rid of now it can't be flushed down the sink.
Again I'd suggest your local chemist, especially if it looks like it has a cellar.0 -
Oh my god I remember this. My mom always used it as a threat. If we took it she knew we were ill and not trying to pull a fast one. It tasted disgusting.0

Hi, I am not sure if you can still get Indian Brandee but do remember it. Another old remedy for tummy ache that my mum used was Sweet Spirit of Nitre just a clear liquid that was mixed with warm water and sugar. I don't think you can get that now either.0

Yes it is still around, i used to have it when i was a little girl and now i give it to my 'little' girl....who happens to be 18 years old LOL!
I couldn't find it anywhere and in the end found an independent chemist that sold it, but it was almost £2.50 for a small bottle so i won't be buying it again.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
