Hi, we are coming to Edinburgh and staying in the Travelodge 25 Shandwick Place, Edinburgh EH2 4RG on one of the £19 deals. Staying this Friday and Saturday nights with our 2 kids. Parking it says is £25 a night  are there any cheaper park and ride options where we can leave the car overnight, or any out of pay zone areas on our way in (A1 from North Yorkshire) where we can bus in?
Any advice most welcome, cheers all

At the top of the A1, just as you go under the ring road, there is a BIG park and ride. Newtonhead I think..... Train straight into Waverly station.0

If you drive a little further west past Haymarket there are plenty of streets with no parking restrictions. I have parked in Murrayfield Avenue for a week with no problems. Walk back down to the main road and there is a bus-stop - 5 minutes and you will be back at your hotelWe all evolve - get on with it0

If you want a cheap place to eat on Friday there`s a Wetherspoons on George St. called "the standing order" that does fish & chips, peas, bread&butter, tea or coffee for £3.20p (kids welcome)
All wetherspoons do this deal between 2-5 pm Mon

Bridge Street in Portobello has a free car park which is underused. Shandwick Place is a 15 minute 26 bus (plenty other buses) ride from there and you are right by the sea-side.0

Was just about to suggest the same location, I have also parked there for a few days.
As an added precaution I always put a laminated sign on my dashboard saying "Undertaker On Call"0 -
