Make me feel Christmassy!

I was feeling really festive and Christmassy a few months ago while I was planning all my presents and things, but now it's rolled round to December, and all the lights are going up and everywhere is playing Christmas songs, I don't feel festive at all
I don't want Christmas to come and go without getting into the spirit of it, so I'm looking for things to put me back in the mood. I've watched the Coca Cola advert on Youtube (don't really watch tv, maybe that's part of it?!) and that definately helped
Also going to the MetroCentre on Sunday which is an every year tradition, to do my present shopping so that should help too, but anyone else got any ideas? All my creativity seems to have gone out of the window
ETA: I'd like to do things like walk around and look at all the lights (not that there seems to be many up round our end this year), or go to an outdoor skating rink or something, but OH never wants to do that stuff, and if I do drag him along then he'll just moan and look bored the whole time.

Ho! Ho! Ho!
Have you got your decorations up yet?
Mrs. Zen has suggested putting them up on the 23rd but I've decided to put my foot down and they are going up tomorrow (well, later today).
Also it's not really Christmas until you have heard the Sally Army or some out of tune kids.
A Merry Christmas to you and yours.0 -

What about making some mince pies or some other xmassy baking? I started to feel festive as I was making stuff for dd's nursery fayre. I made mince pies yesterday, complete with Christmas music then we sat down to watch Elf. The smell of the mince pies when you walk back in the room is lovely.
Have you wrote your Christmas cards yet? I also do this with cheesy xmas music to get me in the mood.
Hopefully youll feel more festive after your shopping spree.

how about making some really simple stuff - snowflakes/christmas trees out of white paper?0

I could just burst with excitement. My 4 year old is in his first nativity play this afternoon. He has landed the role of Joseph. He has been practising all the songs. Baffles me how someone so young can memorise all those songs.
You can keep snow, pressies, decorations etc etc. This is gonna make my year, let alone Xmas. Have packs of tissues and the video recorder charged up to the hilt.
Hope this makes you feel chrismassy.0 -
Fenwick's window does it every time. (I'm assuming by your metrocentre plans you might be close enough!) Do you have a Christmas music CD? If you can watch BBC on your 'puter the Songs of Praise last night was very Christmassy - from the Albert Hall - well worth listening to if you like Christmas music0

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone

ubamother - ohhhh I LOVE the Fenwick's Christmas window! I lived in Newcastle for the past 3 years for uni, and it gets me every time
I'm back in Middlesbrough now, but I think it needs a stop in the Toon before heading over to the Metro to have a peek, plus it means I get to have a look around the food hall, which I also love :rotfl:
pupsicola- That's lovely, I bet you're so excited to see him
zenmaster - thank you very much for your Christmas wishes
I heard the Sally Army playing a few weeks ago in our town centre. It was freezing cold and I was on my lunch break from work, I sat on the steps of a nearby monument all wrapped up in my big coat and scarf and listened, it really did make me feel Christmassy :j And yes my decorations are up.
nic2075 - I am skint until Friday, but then I'm getting a big jar of mince and making mince pies, I never buy them as compared to homemade they just seem bland and awful. It's a tradition at my parent's house that I'll make mince pies on Christmas Eve. Until then I'll just have to keep myself busy with paper snowflakes and paper chains
You know, even just thinking about this kind of thing is making me feel more festive :xmassmile
