My OH when self employed in October and he registered online on the HMRC website.
When should he hear anything from them as he hasn't had any confirmation or do they not contact him until they want him to do a tax return?

I wonder whether the application closed successfully? He should have had a letter saying that he would need to fill in tax returns, and a form for paying Class 2 National Insurance. I got a black book about self employment too.
Perhaps it is worth calling the helpline for the newly self employed.
The first tax return will apply to FY 2009/10, and the form should arrive any time after April 6th 2010.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?
