I am thinking of doing my christmas grocery shopping on line with tesco.
i have not done his before and have a few questions if any one can help please.
Does it save money in the long run.
do you get good quality produce ie fruit and veg etc
when do they take payment is it the day you order or the day they deliver.
do you get the correct items.
thanks

Around Christmas, people seem to get a lot missing and/ or substituted, but most weeks I get only 1 or 2 subbed items

If you have a clubcard and register it, it makes it easier as it adds everything you have previously bought to your favourites for you

    Re quality:
I am sure all stores differ, but I have been happy with the vast majority of what they have picked and when I wasnt for e.g they delivered me 2 boxes of potato skins (on a BOGOF) that were use by that day at 11pm! I jsut phoned them and they reimbursed the total cost and I froze the potato skins

Payment is taken the day they deliver, and prices are as at that day too

Never ever had the wrong item delivered as I think they do it by matching bar codes but I have had a couple of slightly dodgy subs (american tan tights for ham???? ) but they very cheerfully take them back and refund you the next day, if very late and the same day if it is before 6pm

I gave up on online shopping as I always found at least 30% of what I wanted substituted. I am very fickle and when I order something, I do not want it substituted and so the subs were a waste of time for me. I noticed this with all Supermarkets but the biggest joke was Tescos. I ordered about 15 2 liter bottles of various drinks online with some frozen veg and a pint of milk.

I got no drinks (I had said no substitutions) and instead of my bags of frozen veg, I got about 8 brussel spouts in a plastic bag! I got my milk: semi skimmed instead of skimmed.
I complained to Tesco. Did they refund me my delivery? NOPE!
And why was this the biggest joke?
Because I then had no option but to crawl down to the supermarket itself to fine...Everything I had ordered IN STOCK!

I just would rather not have the hassel now. If I fancy less things to carry on the bus (the only reason for ordering online) I go to the shops, get my stuff then get a taxi home and still save £1.50, and I don't have to hover around at home for 2 hours.

I have shopped on line every week since I broke my ankle and I can not go myself, been about 6 months now, and the most I have had substituted is a couple of items each delivery but nothing major. I might have just been lucky but I think it depends on which day of the week you want your delivery and when the supermarket you use change their offers. If you are only buying stuff that are on offer you will probably have more out of stock or substitutions.

I wouldn't suggest you start using it this week though as it will give you a bad example as there is more chance of substitutions in build up to Christmas just like there is more chance of stuff been out of stock if you go into store.

I also know for me there isn't a free slot available in Christmas week, luckily I booked mine about 3 weeks ago.
