  • i'm the same as you honey i have to tell myself i'm not in thousands of pounds worth of debt like my friends.

he's got this year a leapster 2 (£20 in argos with a game) a leapfrog leapPad and a my first LeapPad both with 3 books which in total cost me £10, a pedal go kart which my brother has sprayed for us which cost £15 a ben 10 sweet watch which cost £1.50 but looks like the watch he uses, 7 boxs of magnetix which cost 10 pounds in total, a Wii pack which should cost £20 but i got it for 99p on ebay and a stock full of stuff coming to about £15!

just got to buy him some pj's and some chocolate coins and a kitchen he wants (which cost my friends £170 which i have found on ebay for £10!!!!) and then he's done.

he's getting a Wii from his dad parents (they live in hampshire and spoil him with money, i spoil him with love) so this christmas he doesn't care about anything else so haven't gone mad!

be proud and shout it from the roof tops i always do!!!
  • Well done on all your bargain-hunting, at least you can sit back after xmas and relax an know there's gonna be no big CC bill in january, ive got my girls loads of great books and dvd's from the carboots and toys from the charity shops, i think its great and no bl**dy packaging to get rid of afterwards :D x

Well done you¬:j I bought my ds a little tykes police car from ebay last year for his birthday at £15 it was a snip, I thought I would feel guilty about palming him off with second hand toys but infact I felt great, I was giving him a great toy for less money and helping the environment by stopping it going in landfill! He was only 2 so had no idea even if it had a few scratches, and it has many more now!
    !

That's what I think. The people who turn their noses up about buying second hand are also normally the ones that show off about how environmentally friendly they are. Just point out how many resources (and carbon) you are saving by recycling toys.

My family (grandmas) drives me mad by buying loads of cheap clothes and toys for my daughter that she will never wear or play with. I'd much rather have quality stuff second hand that I know I can pass on/sell to someone else when we're finished with them.

Love this thread, glad to see imnot alone. I have also found most of the presents this year from car boot sales, NCT nearly new sales and with offers/sales that i have had stashed from Jan sales.

I have had the best run up to christmas i can remember as doing things this way has made me less stressed about money.

My utter bargin has been a leappad with 7 books for my daughter, pristine condition just not box for £7!! from a local car boot.
