I'm fat. I'm unhealthy. I'm also grossly restricted on time and money due to being in debt and a full time student, mother to 2 under 5's and a husband who works very hard.
So, I want to be slim and due to my new diagnosis of being coeliac, I want to remain gluten free.
Is it possible to feed 4 people, 3 hens and a cat for £250 a month following both slimming world and gluten free. Oh and to include all domestic and hygiene products?

Hi Gardis
My son is Coeliac & I am able to get free bread, pizza bases, pasta, flour & biscuits from the chemist on prescription so presuming that this is not because he is a child (or that he is diabetic), you should hopefully be able to get the same, which will help a little bit money wise. Speak to your dietetian.(?) Any gluten free extras however are unfortunately VERY expensive. Can't help other than that I'm afraid except to say that as you are a newly diagnosed Coeliac & it took me a little while to realise this but gluten free is different to wheat free. You are able to eat wheat bread etc. as long as the gluten element of it has been extracted.
HTH.

gardis - hi and sorry you have been diagnosed with coeliac. I too have it.
Have you seen a dietician since your diagnosis as I am sure they should be able to give you some pointers especially since a lot of specialist GF foods are high in fat and added stuffs as it is what we are usually lacking.
Unfortunately I know nothing about slimming world so cant comment on that but you should be able to manage your budget (depending on what the hens eat as I have no idea)
I found the best way for family meals is to go back to old style way with traditional meals that you can enjoy together, meat and 2 veg type things perhaps adjusting your diet to portion control rather than a slimming world one. Personally I think to cope with a new coeliac diet will be hard enough as it is without trying to combine it with another.
Good luck and whilst this post hasnt exactly been of much help, feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

Personally - and this is only my opinion - I'd see how it goes for a time while you adjust to your new diet - you may find that you start losing the extra weight. I have a friend who was diagnosed as coeliac and following the changes in his diet he has lost around 3st (he was 18st to begin with!).
Good luck
