    Assuming you are male then
-you do not pay NI on your pension income
-you do pay NI on earned income until you reach the state pension age.

    ps...

you will get a full state pension when you reach the state pension age if you have 30 years worth of NI contributions (or credits).

its 39 years up to April, 2010 then 30 years after that so it depends when you have your birthday really.

Its brilliant not to have to pay NI.

I assumed Ian (the OP) was a man and if he's 60 now then it will be some years before he reached state pensionable age and so 30 years NI contributions is correct.

If you are a man and if superann and interest are your sole incomes then you pay no NI
you will get a full state pension when you reach state pension age if you have 30 'qualifying years' of NI contributions.

Hi Clapton, My apologies, I assumed (wrongly) that the OP was a woman because they said they retire next year at 60. (and i saw the usernam IPRI but i didnt see the name ian at the end, ) :o

I bow to your better observational skills.;)

    Regards
    Annie
