Hi everyone I have a black lab and I was wondering how does everyone wash their pet beds.I put mine in the washing machine (ok it was silly) but when I took it out there were hairs all round the rim of the washing machine so it was not a good idea.help please

I had a black mongrel (size of a Jack Russell) and my sister had a collie type mongrel and we always washed their bedding in the machine. I wiped mine out with a dishcloth after the washing and just never did the whites on the next wash and found it to be ok.
I often had to tumble dry them in winter and found that the lint collector had enough hairs to line a few birds nests!"It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -
same here, black lab which sheds an amazing amount of hairs, i just stick it in the machine then wipe it out and put on the hottest quick wash to freshen the machine up again:pwould like to make it known it is not a DHN, she's dancing

my cats shed loads of hairs. and i usually tumble dry the bedding for 20mins or so on a cool heat to remove most of hairs, then i wash as usual and if any hairs collect in machine i will wipe it round . and do a quick wash cycle before using again. and then i tumble dry the bedding to remove all hairs. ok it a long process but it has never failed yet for me.0

I've got a Saluki and a Greyhound. The Saluki's bed is a folded duvet with a cotton cover, which gets put in the WM without any difficulty. However, the Greyhound's bed is one of the round fleecy ones with a removeable inner cushion, but doesn't have removeable covers. I wash the inner cushion with the duvet cover and then the outer, bigger, bit on its own - however before I do any of that, I rub both bits over with a rubber glove. It pulls an amazing amount of hair off the surfaces and helps to avoid bunging up the machine.
Once the machine has finished, I run a quick rinse cycle where I stop it by hand once its got enough water to slosh around inside, then wipe it out with a microfibre once its emptied.:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:Weight loss since 2 March 10 : 13lbs0 -
I take the covers off my dogs beds and whack them off the back gate before I put them in the machine. It gets most of the hairs off and also gets rid of any pent up frustrationsHere I go again on my own....0

thanks everyone for your answers.I put the bedding in the 32 minute cycle and it didn't even clean it well. The only thing i am worried about is clogging up the wm with the dog's hairs;)half scottish half italian :100%moneysaver0
