DFW Bluezone update - woohoo, and did anyone else have a positive wkend?

Hi guys just thought I would share my good fortune with you guys. I did a bootsale yesterday and got £120 then I did a shift in a pub and should get approx £30 for that.
The bootsale money is usually split between my sister and I but she said as she wasn't there then she doesn't want any of it - woohoo ;)
I've put the money in a jar which when it is fuller I will use for one of my credit cards.

Yippee - a positive start to the week!!!!!!!!

  • Nice one :D I had a good weekend now that I've done the snowball calculator thing and worked out that I'm debt free in May 2008.
I've never done a boot sale myself, most of my unwanteds have gone on eBay, but there are certain things I know will never sell on there, perhaps a boot sale is the way to go for the remaining stuff. Hmmmm. Glad you had a good one.

Tips: Never price things too high, remember you want to get mopney for these things thhey only have sentimental value to you.
Be prepared to barter. I tend to ask for slightly more than I am willing to accept for when they barter me down.
If you are not used to doing bootsales then dont go on your own as this way there is always someone on hand to help and watch the stall should you need the toilet or to buy a drink.
Get there early to get a good pitch. By the carpark is good and also near the food vans as these are the places where you get a lot of custom.
Dont get disheartened if the money doesn't come rolling in on the first one you do as practice makes perfect.
If poss do the bootsales at the end of the month as thats when people have just been paid - ;)

Yesterday yes I got £120 but last week my sis and I did one and only got £60 between us.

I hope this is of some help x

    Well done you!
I had a good weekend also - had to go and have fillings done at the dentist (which obviously I didn't look forwadr to) but I thought it would cost me about £80 because I thought it was £40 for each tooth but it was £40 for the both so I am £40 up this month, nearly payday and still have £100 to last me this week - have a full tank of petrol and plenty of food in the cupboards yay!!!
Was debt free... then went travelling!

Hi bluezone - I did a boot sale yesterday too (my first one) and made £83 so I was really chuffed. Went with my mum who made £19 (I had a lot more stuff than her). Will definitely do another one when I've sorted through more bits that I don't need. I probably let things go quite cheaply as I didn't know what to expect but at the end of the day I didn't want to bring it all back home again so I figured anything was better than nothing. Think the weather helped too - I actually found it quite a relaxing way to spend a Sunday morning even if I did get up at 5 am. Standing in the sun chatting and making money seems like a good idea to me!

Congrats on the carboot profit, that is a really good result.

Broken hearted, regarding wanting to do a carboot with no car: Can you get a friend or relative to share a carboot with you ( and share thier car at the same time) that way you can also share the pitch fee too, as well as company for the day / mind each others stuff for breaks etc.
