Went Bankrupt 02/07 but HMRC now wanting P35 & P14s from 2006/07...

As the title suggests really... my accountant used to deal with all of that but obviously it seems now, didn't file them when I owed them money! (After BR I ceased being an employer and am now happily earning someone else's money!) I've heard nothing from HMRC until now about it... having moved house twice in the almost 3 years since BR.

I'm assuming that any NI owed before the BR will be covered by the BR but they are saying something about fines... and after a little research its £100 per month based on me having less than 50 employees!!!

So as it is I now have to dig out the necessary info to fill in the forms and file them - and am 100% sure that the OR never returned the paperwork they took away!

I'm getting a bit concerned about how the bloody hell to fill in the forms without all the info I need.... even basic stuff like NI numbers of employees I'm sure went to the OR.... and obviously worried to death that I'm now gonna get fined heavily for something I was completely unaware of.

There are loads of guides to setting up businesses on the internet but very little advice about what to do when you fold one! Thought that chapter in my life was over :o

Any advice?

  • Hi, I believe it should all be included in the bankruptcy. HMRC can view the records at the OR office and you can also also ask to see them in order to complete your forms. I'd suggest giving your OR office a call about it.
