Where is good to go for hogmanay in or near Aberdeen? We were planning on going to the street party but apparently is it cancelled this year  .

Recommendations welcomed! Ta

That looks interesting and there are some nice videos on the page.

I hope the health and safety people don't see any of this otherwise it will all be banned by next year:D

There have been several attempts to ban it over the years TBH.

In my day, there were few barriers and the parade just made its way through the crowd but some eejits just don't get that it is a good idea to stay out of the space described by a spinning, flaming fireball.

Aberdeen/shire itself is difficult at Hogmanay as the local tradition is more of a family/friends thing, where you did your best to get to a house for the bells. The city centre "gathering" was more a gimmick introduced in the run-up to the millenium, so it is probably about time it ended.
  • Cheers for the responces.
Think we may have little gathering in the house, then we can both have a drink and not worry about driving back from Stonehaven. You never know the neighbours may even pop round! (is it just me or do people not make friends with neighbours anymore ).

not sure where you are Im in sauchen and theres a family ceilidh in the local village hall. I've never been to the stonehaven fireballs but weather permitting will be going there, otherwise will be going to the ceilidh.
  • Since the tree at the Castlegate has been vandalised already, the Stonehaven fireballs seems like your best bet.
