I have two young boys under the age of 8. Somehow their hair grows fast and with the beautiful weather we are having i normaly ask the barber to do a no 2 cut which is near baldness if you know what i mean.
After observing the barber it is easy to cut the hair etc.
what i am looking for is a hair clipper kit for young kids. i have seen this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4422220/Trail/C%24cip%3D36237.Sports%2Band%2Bleisure%3EC%24cip%3D36390.Personal%2Bcare%3EC%24cip%3D36380.Clippers%2Band%2Btrimmers.htm
but was uncertain if it is suitable for my needs
Any ideas/recommendations?

Looks OK, I think they're all much of a muchness - like lawnmowers! I used electrical clippers on my DH, also used them on the poodle, and it's not rocket science.
Check out Boots, they may have cheaper/sturdier0 -

Hi its best to pay a bit more and go for Wahl clippers - I got a brand new pair boxed with loads of different length attachements, instruction dvd etc, oil, scissors, comb etc for £32 delivered on ebay.
I have used other types in the past years on my OH hair but they all ended up in the bin and he ended up going back to the hairdresser at a cost of £5 a time so on the recommendation of my hairdresser we bought the Wahl ones - they are great and give a really clean cut.
We worked it out that from last August - March this year he made 10 visits to the barbers at £5 a time total costs total £50 plus tips
So based on that his visits to the barbers from March to June would have been approx 4 @£5 so that already £20 towards the cost of the clippers
We will be quids in by the end of the year.
Hope this helps and good luckRemember is nice to be important but more important to be nice0 -
Mine were steel, but only because ceramic ones hadn't been invented0

Ceramic - no question.
When the steel blades start to lose their sharpness they are liable to nick or at least be uncomfortable.
Young boys will complain vociferously if it's unpleasant!"Beer. Now there's a temporary solution." Homer (Simpson)0 -
aaarrrggghhhh so much to chose from
i have narrowed it down to 3 from argos. prefer to get from argos in case of problems/faults later on.

above has the benefit of 3 year guarantee
and finally

I've been using these Nicky Clarke ones to do my hair every few weeks for years now. And believe me when I say that I've the thickest hair on the planet, and those clippers cope with my head better than my old hairdresser's used to
honest, no tugging or catching. So long as you keep them clean and oiled they're an absolute steal
I even abandoned my expensive titanium remmington and went back to those to do my beard as well!"If you really want to hurt your parents and you don't have nerve enough to be homosexual, the least you can do is go into the arts."0 -
Home bargains have had ceramic cutters in stock for less than a tenner. Didn't look too closely as wasn't really interested but may be worth checking out0

update - have gone for this mainly because of the accessories that comes with it and also it has ceramic blade

comfortable to hold and use. wish the instructions showed how to position the blade attachment to the scalp. the attachments were hard to attach, was afraid i might break it.
it is for the kids. they enjoyed it. did a England flag on the back of the head. not bad for first attempt.
biggest disadvantage - its the cleaning up afterwards :-)Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problemsWell at least i learn something on the way
