    maybe some people will disagree but to be separated from her would be the worst outcome ever..

    I would think that to be living on the streets with a young child would be the worst thing but that's not going to happen either.
  • GOOD NEWS:::

    after calling the housing people 10 times a day and constantly getting ignored eventually some one has called back. Thanks to your guys help i have quoted things that they shud be doing and also said they will be expecting a letter from my solicitor as i left the property in good faith so therefore not intentionally homeless!!

    Basically they have offered a bond which will mean i can get a privately rented flat and they will pay the deposit for me.... wow i am so happy!

    now the problem is finding landlords that will accept HB tenants but hopefully i will!!!

    Thank you all for your help and advice!! Sarah x

    we found our private landlord through loot, finding one that takes HB is hard but keep trying, if you have a reference that would help

    good luck

    Don't forget that it's not HB that you'll be claiming but LHA. You also need to check the amount that you're eligible for in your area and the appropriate size property.

    Are you saying your mother/family will see you walking the streets with nowhere to go..?

    Mine did! Only thanks to a friend who made an unexpected offer did I avoid being out on the streets.

    To the OP: I wish you all the best in getting this sorted out for you both . . . don't give up and don't take no for an answer!!
    mmmm, still seeking something witty to be my auto-signature . . . so this will have to suffice for now ;)

    Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

    Even if you had not left and waited to be evicted. The reason for the eviction would be rent arrears and this would have meant that you would still be classed as intentionally homeless ie you intentionally let rent arrears buildup by not using your HB/ LHA to pay your rent. I accept it would have taken longer to evict, but you still would have ended up in the situation you are now.

    The way forward I would suggest is to plead with family to stay with them again and to ask for all Xmas presents to be cash that you can put towards a rent deposit. Keep inquiring about a deposit bond from the council. Have you any family prepared to act as guarantor? That may help finding a private rental. Good luck!

    This is the situation I am in. My ex partner was working but her employer was experiencing financial difficulties and ended up going bankcrupt,my ex partner had only been employed there for 5 months and didn't recieve her final 3 months wages or a redundancy pay which left the rent around £1,400 in arrears,at this time I was unable to work following a serious accident and unable to recice benefit or H.B due to my ex partner's income. Me and my ex partner split up and I filed for H.B in December 2008,I had come to an agreement to pay the landlord off on top of the H.B but then I got a letter from the council saying that the Bank Of Ireland had filed for Bankcruptcy against my landlord so they would not pay any housing benefit. Once this had been dealt with and the bank appointed a new landlord I again applied for H.B,the problem with this being that the L.H.A for my area is £80 a week and my rent is £110 a week,I am only recieving £49 a week in benefit due to a social fund loan taken out with my ex partner so I am not able to pay the surplus amount as it would leave me with no money for food,gas and electric. I applied to be put on the housing register only to be told that they would not house me due to the rent arrears as in their opinion I am making myself intentionally homeless.
