Im finally nearly debt free

Right where do I start, I was young stupid and loved spending money
credit cards overdrafts, you name it, I spent it. I am so happy now though I have worked hard making extra money where I can even selling loads of old stuff on ebay to pay my debts back I have got my total from £12,000 to £890 in 16mths and I only earn £15k a year

looking forward to 2010 its going to be the first year since I was 20 that I will be debt free. I already know how I am going to spend some of my extra money.

A newish bmw, I feel I have earned it

Wow, you managed to survive on £4-5 in 16months, that is an achievement in itself. Well done. You should be clear within now with 1-2 months. Grats

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

I stopped having nights out and just stayed in, hardly used my car in fact I sold my car and bought a banger for £200 a p-reg corsa lol
it really was a banger but it was relaible and oddly I sold it on to a friend for £250 just recently

I really went through my house to see what I could sell you would be amazed what people will buy on ebay. Even if I listed 50 items at £1 each its still a £50 in my pocket and you can make about 50p on postage aswell. You guys who dont use ebay you really must it is free to list items for 99p or less and I bet everyone on here will have at least 100 things they dont want or need. CD'S clothes, dvd's,mobile phones, old computer games or even consoles,Car parts are a good seller aswell especially wheel trims that have the right badges on them I found quite a few while walking the dog they sell from 99p to £15 each

I tried to leave money in paypal until the end of the month and I used my wages to pay for the postage then at the end of the month I knew I could pay all my bills and some on top.

I had a outstanding debt of £900 From when I bought hifi on finance plus they put loads of charges on top for late payments etc. I phoned the debt agency up and said look I am going to be bankrupt in 6 mths If I cant settle my debts so would you be willing to accept a settlement payment. they agreed and I paid £315 to clear it.

I done the same with a few debts but that was the best deal I got off celtenam. most companys will only allow you 30% but even still 30% is better off in your pocket than theres. you really must be prepared to argue your point they will keep you on the phone for as long as possible to get every last penny from you, remember thats there job and they get paid more for getting more, dont get stressed on the phone I know thats easier said than done but it really dont help you. If you feel its not working ask for the supervisor and tell them you dont see any end to the problem if you cant offer me a realistic solution.

Hard work but worth it. I cut my weekly shopping from £80 a week to £35 I had to make do on the cheaper brands and use different shops, my tesco club card helped out aswell. Try and stay away from all the convience stores they are expensive when you tot it all up. Milk is way cheaper in the supermarket and bread. asda sell off close to sell by date bread for about 16p compared to £1.17.

Even my electricty and gas bills where cut, just turn everything off all the time it soon becomes a habbit! and the wife hates me sometimes for closing windows and turning the heating off.

Friends and family always throw things away so be on the look out and ask them if they are getting shot of any old bits and bobs whatever you cant sell on ebay you can sell at the carboot or the green ads paper.

I am member of freecycle to, you will have to check it out people give things away. dont get me wrong I diddnt sell these things I was given but it saved me having to buy them.

I was a 20 a day smoker and no sorry I couldnt quit but however I do smoke lights now and only about 5 a day, I am going to quit though in the new year.

Dont be affriad to buy something on the cheap you know is worth more to sell it on for a quick profit.

You really have to change your lifestyle and live differntly, my Nana used to always say dont buy something you dont have the money for, I wish I would have taken that seriously ages ago.

I am saving up for a car when my debts are gone no finnace for me thank you. then hopefully next year start saving for my own home, I am late getting on the property ladder all my friends have bought house's but I dont see it as a bad thing they are struggling to pay for it right now and in all honestly If I had a mortgage I most probobly would have lost my house by now anyway.

I really hope this helps others, so good luck and yes it is possible dont get depressed its only money, if you have'nt got it they cant have it. simple
