BBQing frozen corn coblets?

hi all
yet another q from lil me :)

we buy those frozen mini corn cobs and have tried to BBQ them, with varying results. Personally I think OH is a bit of a perfectionist here ;) but he thinks that the niblets go too hard. I tend to preboil them for about 4 mins and then wack on the BBQ

What can we do to avoid this???

Just personally I think that BBQ corn always goes hard and dry and is never very appetising :o

I always microwave the mini cobs and leave them in a lidded dish with plenty of butter and salt. They stay hot for ages while the rest of the food is being served.

:D They do look nice but they don't taste nice.

If you want the burnt bits then cook them through and give them a minute on the bbq to colour them, then stick them back in the lidded dish so that they don't dry out.

Coblets is an excellent word:D I think we should definitely use it more often.

I have had varying experiences with corn both fresh and frozen on the BBQ last time I cooked frozen cobs I did them from frozen and they were fine.

i always take them out the freezer a few hour before hand and let them defrost through. then wrap in foil and hey presto. never had any prob's. except hubby forgot them last time and they were in the end just lumps of charcoal. lol

We were on holiday recently at a villa and did loads of fresh corn on the cobs on the BBQ with different results.

When we came home I got some frozen ones, defrosted them and just stuck them on the BBQ grill. They were delicious and far nicer than the fresh ones. They really don't take long to cook and I am sure they are healthier as they are frozen from being picked.
