Using up cereal bars?

Hi. I have three boxes (different varieties) of cereal bars I really need to use up. I don't really like them on their own as they are a bit...I don't know. Probably too healthy for me! They are basically oats with lots of different fruits and nuts I was hoping there might be something I could make them into as I don't really mind what. I guess I would have to crush them up. I'm not sure if they might be a little soft because they were 'out of date' a few months back.
(read: last year) I haven't opened one to check but they don't seem too bad in that respect.
I was thinking cookies or something like that might work?! But I really don't mind what it is so long as I can get them out of the way.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I had this problem a few weeks ago. I thought that I could use them as a substitute for broken biscuits in a chocolate fridge cake. Don't do it!! It was completely vile, and I ended up having to throw it out0

Thanks. We don't really eat crumble but I think it might be too much fruit/nuts for that? Not sure. I'll avoid the fridge cake, kayl, thanks, haha. Any others ideas would be great. I feel like cookies or flapjacks or something might work but I've nooo idea and I haven't got a recipe?0

Would they work in Twink's Hobnobs? Hopefully someone can link you up to it since I can't, but if you search this forum for "homemade hobnobs" you should find the thread with the recipe. I'm sure I remember reading variations later on in the thread where people have used up old cereal, so bars should work as well. I have some similar sounding cereal (but not bars) that I'm planning on using when I get around to trying the recipe as I thought it would go nicely.
Edit to add - this should work if you copy and paste into your address bar. I just can't make it clickable yet. forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=4719920 -
I really do love Twink's hobnobs. I was planning on using up some muesli on that. I'm not sure it will work with cereal bars because obviously the oats aren't loose, they're held together with...whatever holds it together. So the oats would be sort of sticky. I guess I could give it a go. I'll crush one up tomorrow and see what it comes out like.

Hmm, good point. You could try cutting back the syrup (possibly the marge too, if the bars are at all oily) until it's about the right consistency? The recipe seems pretty forgiving from what I've read in that thread.
I might mix some up myself tonight since I'll have the oven on for dinner. Already have pudding, but that'll be snacks for the weekend sorted!0 -
Thanks - that's a good idea. I think I will give it a go tomorrow. If it crushes well I can probably do half oats half cereal bars, which might balance it out a bit since there's so much fruit/nuts.
The only thing about Twink's hobnobs is that I end up eating them all within a week. Since I read you can eat them frozen...it all went downhill from there.:o0
