Hi Im new here and am so worried

Hi Im new here and am so worried.
My husband has just left me today and our two young children in our mortgaged house with 25k worth of credit cards outstanding. We were already on an interest only payment for the mortgage - but now that he has gone I am wondering if the government will pay this interest free. The house is worth about 175000k. I am not working. The credit cards are mostly in my name - to pay the mortgage after trusting my ifa husband that a deal was going to come off that would cover all the outstanding debt. i am at my wits end. My children 7 and 5 are looking forward to xmas - all im thinking of is where are we going to live and what on!
Can I just add that i have never had credit until I met my husband five years ago - I was so right.
Please any help about benefits for single parents but especially the mortgage would be so helpful.
Ps I intend to go back to work as soon as this situation is sorted out because I so dont want to live on benefits
Thanks for reading

    Hi-& welcome to the forum.....

By far the best place to start sorting your problems.

Firstly, your post will be rather hidden where it is at the moment...maybe one of the mods will open a new thread for you??

Secondly, at the head of this forum you will find a number of stickies...especially those referring you to the various Debt Advice charities.....I advise ypou contact one or more for advice.....you've taken the fisrt, most important step, of deciding to share your problems with us, so contact with a debt charity will help even more.

a problem shared is a problem halved....or something like that?
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

    Hi,

You need to claim income support (IS) asap. This is money for your self and then child tax credit and child benefit for the children ( prob already have child ben)

Your allowable mortgage interest costs will be covered after 13 weeks. If your mort is up to date now, then no action from your lender would happen before that time and then payments would continue from the DWP.

PM me and we can discuss in more detail.
