Mortgage fact find forms & buildstore

Hi,
This is my first post (ooooh)
I have just got off the phone with the Buildstore to talk about a self build mortgage. With a follow up (detail) call next week.
All was fine, really nice people, good advice etc, but one question...
They asked that among the details I get ready for their fact finding form, I should include my bank details including account code and sort number??
now Buildstore is a big company, and I haven't heard anything bad about them, but is this usual practice??
Any feedback gratefully received. (inc on Buildstore good or bad?)

Yes, totally normal at that stage of a mortage application with any lenderHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

They need your details, otherwise they would just have to make them up as they go!
Be aware that if you get declined there is no going back. Sometimes it's useful to go via an experienced broker who may be able to flag up potential difficulties prior to getting anywhere near buildstore.0 -
Agree with Conrad. Research the market as there are a number of lenders providing self-build mortgages. Try and find a broker who has experience with arranging self-builds as going alone for the first time can be a daunting experience.0

Thanks to all who responded, I really appreciate the info.
"let us see" and conrad. I am/was under the impression that buildstore is a broker (among other things) i was told (by them) that they are whole of market???
also, any suggestions for good self build brokers??
Thanks again0 -
Mr Tooley,
I dealt with buildstore in '07 for an accelerator mortgage - they are a morrtgage broker - they are specialists in self build lending, but im pretty sure they do whole of market as well. my mortgage funds were provided by skipton building society but everything was arranged by buildstore, as far as the application, and then my satge releases.0
