Happens a lot in the south - same applies at my place. Twisterfreak, if you haven't got a water meter, might be worth getting. Also, get rain butt and re-use bath etc water on the garden if you can;sewage company should give you discount for doing that.

If you give the % interest being charged on your debts, it will help people identify which ones should be paid off first.

Thanks to everyone here. All great suggestions and people who are obvioulsy genuine and concerned. Don't think i have ever been on a forum quite like this before.
