Painting silk scarves for Christmas.

I'm wanting to paint some silk scarves for Christmas presents, but I don't know how the different weights of silk work. Can anyone help?
I've been to the Abakhan website and seen this
http://www.abakhan.co.uk/acatalog/info_6332.html
But I'm not sure if this would be too light.
Does anyone know the type of silk or weight of silk I should be looking for? (and where to get it if possible)
Thank you in advance

I had one of those Dryad silk painting kits once. The silk included in it was very lightweight.
Just had a look at my silk painting book and it suggests that the best ones to get for an inexperienced person are twill, ponge (the e has an accent over it, but I don't know how to do those on a keyboard) or crepe-de-chine.0
