loan refused?

I called into my bank today to apply for a £6000 loan for a new car but the loan adviser told me the bank wouldnt give me it because although my account history was very good there was something on my credit history. They then told me they couldnt tell me what it was and that i should get a credit report using 'experian'.
I checked it and as i thought it was completely clear, except i was'nt on the electorial register (I live in a share house). So i took a copy of the report to the bank and the loan adviser agreed it was clear and that the lack of electorial registion wouldnt be a issue. He told me the 'blip' must be a mistake, he then called the nessary department in correct it but they told him there was something else on the credit report that was'nt on my copy and the loan would be refused. They also told me they couldnt tell me what it was on the report or were i could find out.
Am can honestly say i at a loss thinking what it could be or how it could find out. An advise would be much appriciated.

I had the same problem a few years ago when applying for a Grad loan. Natwest told me that there was something wrong with my credit file and that i needed to send off for a copy. They gave me the form i needed. Once i had my report back i went back into the bank and showed them. They said there was nothing wrong with it! I said "Excellent! When can I have my loan then?". They said that I couldn't because there system was still showing that something was wrong! AARRGGHHHH! So frustrating.
In the end i gave up and got my GF to apply in her name. All was good!0
