Of all the electric shavers I tried I liked Panasonic best. Philips rotary were a nightmare and left cuts all over my neck. Braun was OK. That said, I'm back to wet shaving now partly because none of the shavers I tried would get every hair, even with multiple passes, so I'd end up needing to tidy things up with a blade anyway. I have sensitive skin too and found the Liz Earle for Men shaving cream/foam really good. No razor burn for me any more - and they do last quite a long time which is good because they aren't cheap.

i like the braun systems as they literally grow the foil so its extremely thin giving a very close shave

I upgraded to a pulse one a few months back when my current foil finally wore out, I got it for £140 from sainsburys but there back up to £260ish now :(

The Times gave it a good review

Question for the blokes, probably (although any help welcome as I really have no idea!)

My OH currently uses a Braun electric razor which is about 30 years old, and you can no longer get new blades for it. It has also started taking chunks out of his face, so it's definitely time to get a new one!

So.... I have said I will buy my OH a new electric (well, battery) razor for Christmas.

Trouble is, neither of us has any idea of which type to go far, as there are so many different choices now! My OH thinks that a £25 one from bargains-are-uz will do fine, I tend to think you get what you pay for with these kind of items. Who is correct?

And how on earth do I decide which one to buy? Is there are easy way of deciding or sampling new razors, or could I be risking wasting a lot of money on something that doesn't suit my OH?

    Help!!

Shamelessly bumping my own post, just in case anyone out there does know anything about razors....

    :D

I'm very surprised at the lack of responses, if I had asked a question about a ladyshave I bet I would have had some replies by now. Or is this a man/woman difference thing?

(Still talking to myself) Does nobody buy electric razors any more...?...?....

  • My hubby loves Phillips razors and they start at reasonable prices. He only uses an electric shaver and always gets a good close shave. Hope that helps.

I used to use a lovely apricot conditioner that I got for 17p from Savers aaaaaages ago.
Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.
  • I have patches of psoriasis and have been told to use Aqueous Cream instead of soap. I tried using it as a shaving cream and was reasonably pleased with the result.
I still prefer Original Source Shave Gel though!:rotfl:
  • I went to a family wedding and had forgotten to pack a razor. :o My cousin gave me one of her pink bic(?) twin-blade razors to use - I have never had so many nicks and cuts from one shave before.
Perhaps the solution is to have a bag ready-packed with a change of clothing, a grooming bag inc toothbrush, razor etc. a mobile phone and a book.:)
Having been taken to hospital wearing only PJ bottoms and a t-shirt, I now keep the bag handy. Obviously it could equally well be kept in the car - but not good for ambulance emergency - lol.;)

Not a fan of electric razors as they generally feel like rubbing sandpaper over my face after using! I shave after my morning shower as the heat makes things more comfortable. I really like the king of shaves gels which really go a long way and can be used sparingly. Their own brand razors are really good too although tricky when manoeuvring under your nose
