May be we should all become [STRIKE]wa**[/STRIKE]:o Bank Managers:D
Or MP's there the only ones that are making money....:rotfl:

Could anyone tell me if it be worth requesting a pay cut of £1 from your employer if you are on exactly 20k to avoid this increase?A 0.5 percentage point rise had already been planned but today's news means even less take-home pay, though the Government says only those earning over £20,000 a year will have to pay the additional increased rate.
As far as I am aware there are no laws against tax evasion...

as disheartening and disappointing as I expected. What a terrilble mess it all is for us, our children and probably their children too. Oh to be a banker, mess up and STILL get rewarded. If they threaten to "go elsewhere" if they are deprived of their bonuses, well let them, there must be other people who can do the work\create the mess they have0

Gondrup what wacky but fab idea if doable and legal.
Makes me mad I guess gross £20,000 seems like a lot but by time tax and ni is paid not really much left net was about £1200 a month when I worked fulltime to which I paid £850 full time nursury fees, £50petrol as ran a moped to get tow work leaving me net income of £300 maybe slightly less , luckily hubbys wages paid for rent and bills.
The 0.5 ni rise is awful as they were alreday planning hat amount so 0.5 on top means 1%increase in ni from 2011 on £20,000 or more.
The bankers tax is easy for them to evade as one off until april 6th 2010 so could pay bonus on 7th or after, they could change their job title or the very rich can employ accountants to do some creative tax returns while everyone one else has to pay more.
I very much doubt they will raise the 500mil they think they can from it.
Projections of growth seem bit unrealistic. How can gdp increse we dont make much anymore and havent supported manufacturing.
everythings happening after election.
Plan seems to be raise taxes but increase debt for next 2years and not pay down the debt.
They needed to be tough like irish, guess over next few years we will see who was right as can compare irish economy to ours.
I would like to know why some departments in public sector like mod get bonuses seems grossly unfair as docters, nurses, troops, teachers, police do not get bonus.
Really odd one is the bingo tax? whats all that about. We expecting our oaps to gamble their increased pensions to improve economy!
I have been to bingo a few times and quite enjoyed it but im not very lucky won once. But its not cheap my nan stopped going to main bingo halls as got too costly.Galas about 10-20quid for main session, all the books, then between sessions people buy from bar, cafe, play boards and the slot machines!pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:
Pay off as much as I can 2011 £15008.02/£15,000:j
new grocery challenge £200/£250 feb
KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON:D,Onwards and upward2013:)0 -
We've been robbed. We literally ARE paying for the bankers bonuses. Boo-hoo if we don't give them a bonus the top "talent" will just move abroad working for a rival bank. Let em i say, the country would be much better off without the likes of them. Come to think of it, a better idea would be for everyone to move abroad and leave them robbing b@stards behind. That includes you MP's.
Now then, New Zealand or Australia, what's it gonna be? has anyone any recommendations on where i can elope?0 -
I am surprised noone has complained about the broadband tax yet ? Every household with a phoneline will have to pay £6 BB Tax to go to BT to upgrade their Network.
This has me absolutley fuming. I haven't been with BT for 12 years. I wish I could opt for this tax to go to Virgin Media instead, or better even, not having to pay it at all.

Why don't the government start cracking down on all the turkeys claiming incapacity benefit/dole? Every town has these wasters that hang around street corners, generally outside a pub or bookies - and absolutly nothing wrong with them. This really p***es me off.
Then the people who do have a valid need for this benefit don't qualify, as they don't meet the criteria (normally the decent people who don't lie in the forms).
Open your eyes Gorden - if you want to start clawing back the money, don't start taking it form the normal working man. We need to start cutting the supply to these layabouts!0 -

Yes I agree, and what's betting that doesn't go up and up and up every year, just another stealth tax.
We are going to be much worse off and if I understand correctly, just on NI along we are going to be paying an extra £50 a month between us, this is before they start on income tax and other taxes too.
What makes me laugh though is the tories who are 'appalled' by this PBR but what's betting they don't reverse the changes when they get into power next year???
Once our debts are paid off in about 15 months time, I am giving up work (will be able to afford to live on hubby's wage then), its just not worth me putting anymore effort into working harder and trying to get a better paid job.Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
I knew all this would happen when Labour won the last election; I have seen this 'movie' too many times.0
